CBS’ long running comedy isn’t going anywhere. A little over a week after CBS ordered Young Sheldon to series, the network has renewed The Big Bang Theory for two more seasons, Variety has confirmed.
This two-season renewal is expected to allow the show to air its final two seasons, meaning the show will likely end with season 12.
Reportedly, Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Simon Helberg (Howard) all have new deals, while Mayim Bialik (Amy) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) are still in the middle of negotiating new contracts.
Rauch and Bialik have been seeking salary parity with the rest of the cast. The other five have reportedly taken pay cuts in order for each cast member to paid the same and they will be making $900,000 per episode.
Since Rauch and Bailik joined the cast, they’ve both played big parts in the show. Rauch’s character, Bernadette, is married to Howard and the two had a baby together this season. Bailik’s character, Amy, has been Sheldon’s girlfriend and the two recently moved in together.
According to TV by the Numbers, The Big Bang Theory is averaging a 3.3 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and 14.53 million viewers in the live and same day ratings. That number grows to a 5.1 rating and 19.4 million viewers when a week of DVR and on-demand viewing is factored in.
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on CBS.
