The long-awaited anime Macross will be streaming on Disney+ worldwide, Comicbook.com reports. The announcement from the streamer was released today stating that the entire show catalogue will be added.
According to Comicbook.com, the news arrives directly from the executive producers of the anime on their Japanese blog. Disney+ was able to purchase the license for this animated show and its entire catalog in order to stream it globally but missed a few of the other shows related to Macross. For example, Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Macross: Do You Remember Love won’t be available globally. They will only be on Disney+ Japan’s catalog.

The anime, according to ComicBook.com, seems to have had licensing problems in the past. For a long time, the license for Macross was in between a legal battle for Harmony Gold who was the one that bought the distribution rights from the Japanese company Tatsunoko Productions. The legal battle begun because the producers of Macross noticed that Tatsunoko Productions were not in the right to have the license for the anime franchise after the original series. This battle gave issues for Macross to be shared globally. But now, Harmony Gold was able to reach a deal with Studio Nue and Big West to distribute Macross and other shows of the franchise out of Japan. Because of this, Disney+ was able to buy the rights and give a house, finally, to the famous anime.
