FX’s wildly popular series The Americans is making room to add Oscar nominee Frank Langella to the cast list. Langella is joing the show for its third season as a former KGB handler, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The verteran actor’s character in the show will be as a former coworker of Philip (Matthew Rhys), known as ‘Gabriel’. Langella’s character returns to the scene after retiring, who takes back the responsibility of overseeing two KGB operatives from their previous handler.
We’ve been huge fans of Frank’s work for a long time, and it’s been such a pleasure getting to know Frank himself in the beginning stages of working together on the character of Gabriel,” said executive producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields. “We look forward to a great season together, and to what we’re sure will be a phenomenal creative collaboration” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Fans of Langella will surely be pleased with the news of his busy schedule for this upcoming new year, as the actor is set to appear in three new features: Driftless Area, Captrain Fantastic, and 5 to 7.
