The party is over, and everybody’s gotta get out and go home. TVLine has learned exclusively and shared that The AppleTV+ Series The Afterparty has been canceled after two seasons. The murder-mystery comedy will not continue to its third season even after the finale which contains a shocking confession and a twist within the reveal of “whodunnit”.
Each season of The Afterparty has its own unique killer storyline. It also featured two different guest casts for each season as well. The revolving casts allowed the series to have strong leading players along with some cameos that were thoroughly enjoyed by audiences. The murder mysteries that both seasons featured were surrounding storylines within friendships, family, romance, and marriage, always keeping the audience entertained with interesting scenarios. Season two followed what happened after a wedding that was ruined after the groom himself was found murdered. The official description reads “Detective Danner returns to help Aniq and Zoë solve the whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers, and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own unique perspective and visual style,”
In the second season’s finale, the character Zoe made a confession that shocked viewers. Along with that the character Vivian was drawing massive conclusions in order to solve the cast quickly and efficiently. In doing this, the police chief Reardon was finally attentive to theories and successfully found the killer.
The Afterparty starred Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Zoë Chao in both the first and second seasons in the leading roles. Season two’s guest cast members included John Cho (Selfie), Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai), Ken Jeong (Community), Anna Konkle (PEN15), Poppy Liu (Hacks), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), Jack Whitehall (Good Omens), Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) and Vivian Wu (Away). Both seasons are available to stream on AppleTV+.
