The upcoming sophomore season of the Apple TV+ comedy series The Afterparty will reportedly feature some recurring cast members from the previous season, despite only lead Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) being confirmed to star thus far, according to Variety. In an interview, Chris Miller revealed that other cast members from season one will be reprising their roles, alongside a new band of characters.
The Afterparty followed a group of former classmates reuniting at an afterparty at the mansion of pop star Xavier, played by Dave Franco (The Now). After he falls off his balcony and dies, Detective Danner, played by Haddish, must investigate each alumni to determine who pushed him.
The new season will feature a new murder, investigation and characters.
“There will be returning actors beyond Tiffany and a whole bunch of new folks as well,” Miller said. “A whole new murder. Different shenanigans. Different film styles. We do have a dog in it – that’s a spoiler, but there is a dog.”
The Afterparty was renewed at the beginning of March, ahead of the premiere of its season finale. It currently stars Haddish, Zoë Chao (Strangers), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within), Illana Glazer (Broad City) and Ike Barinholtz (Blockers). However, it is still unclear who will be returning for the next season, and who have permanently exited the series.
