The villain of season two of the CW’s The Flash has said he wants to return to the show before it wraps up, according to ComicBook.com. Teddy Sears (Chicago Fire, A Waltons Thanksgiving), via an interview with Flash TV News, has announced his desire to reprise his role as Hunter Zolomon AKA Zoom during season nine of The Flash, which will be its final season.
Although nothing seems to be confirmed, Sears has asked to be a part of The Flash once again. He reportedly keeps in contact with much of the cast of The Flash, including remaining cast members Grant Gustin (Glee, Rescued by Ruby) and Danielle Panabaker (Sky High, Friday the 13th), and former members Jesse Martin (Rent, Law and Order) and Tom Cavanagh (Ed, Tom and Grant).
While Zoom was killed off in the third season, the CW-wide five-episode crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths” changed the course of several storylines throughout the shows of the Arrowverse. With this rewrite, there is a possibility for the return of Zoom.
This comes after news of Batwoman star Javicia Leslie (God Friended Me, MacGyver) joining the series was announced, though no information about her character has been announced. Additionally, Jon Cor (Shadowhunters, Dark Matter), who plays Mark Blaine or Chillblaine, has been promoted to series regular, and Richard Harmon (The 100, I Still See You) has been cast as supervillain Captain Boomerang.
Season nine will be the end of The Flash. News of the cancellation was announced back in August. Production for the show began in September. The season is expected to premiere sometime in early 2023 for a total of thirteen episodes.
The lead star Grant Gustin posted a series of photos on Instagram alongside a heartfelt caption ahead of production, which you can see below.
