TCA: Disney+ Unveils Slew of Fall Premiere Dates; ‘She-Hulk’ Shifts One Day Later

Disney+’s presentation at the Television Critics Association revealed a slate of fall TV series’ premiere dates, including the second season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. According to a Disney press release, viewers can also expect the arrival of new series, Growing Up, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and two series under the National Geographic banner. All the new programming begins with August’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

The latest Marvel series is a half-hour comedy starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, cousin to Avenger Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and newest superhero. The series will follow Walters balance her newfound hero fame with the regular life of a career attorney. Originally set for August 17, the show will now debut on August 18, one day later, according to the press release.

The second season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is set to premiere on September 28. Based on the 90s films starring Emilio Estevez (Young Guns, The Way) as hockey coach Gordon Bombay, the show follows a new set of child underdogs seeking success on the ice. With Estevez departing the show after season one, season two stars Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood) return as Alex Morrow, a mother who is now coaching her son’s underdog hockey team. The new season will see the team seek advanced training by Josh Duhamel’s (Transformers, Jupiter’s Legacy) Colin Cole, a former NHL player.

Two new series will debut on September 8, via the press release. The first is the Brie Larson (Captain Marvel, Just Mercy) co-created Growing Up, an experimental docuseries that captures the coming-of-age journeys of young “hero” subjects. Each 30 minute episode focuses on one individual, aged 18-22, and their personal story. The show will interview the subject and use various creative elements to illustrate their narrative. The second series, Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory, lives under the National Geographic moniker on the platform. With the BAFTA award-winning Gregory as viewers’ tour guide, the show explores the lives of animals across the world with the latest technology, providing an unprecedented take on the natural history program format.

A few weeks later on September 21, Super/Natural will premiere. From Academy Award-winning director James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) and narrated by Dr. Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch, Super/Natural is another program focused on the purely extraordinary abilities of animals. The use of cutting-edge technology promises “to reveal the secret powers and super-senses of the world’s most extraordinary animals…,” according to the press release. View the trailer below.

Finally, fans of ABC’s long-running celebrity competition show, Dancing With the Stars, can expect the new season to make its Disney+ debut on September 21. Co-hosted by America’s Next Top Model’s Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro (The Fresh Prince, America’s Funniest Home Videos), the new season will once again see an array of famous names battle for the crown in the ballroom dance contest.

This showing at TCA is only a preview of what is to come for Disney+ as the company plans to announce its full slate across all mediums at its annual Disney+ Day set for September 8.
