Taylor Russell to portray Judy Robinson for Netflix’s ‘Lost in Space’ Remake

According to TV Series Finale, Taylor Russell has been cast as Judy Robinson for the new Lost In Space TV show reboot. The upcoming series will stream on Netflix in 2018. Russell portrayed Evelyn in the fifth and last season of Noah Wyle’s Falling Skies which officially ended its run in 2015 on TNT.

In the original Lost In Space series, Judy was the eldest daughter of Dr. John Robinson (Guy Williams) and Dr. Maureen Robinson (June Lockhart). Some of the other cast members on the series included Mark Goddard, Bill Mummy, Angela Cartwright, and Jonathan Harris.

Marta Kristen originally played Judy in Irwin Allen’s classic TV series. The show premiered back in 1965 and ran for three seasons before being cancelled by CBS in 1968. For the 1998 feature film, Heather Graham was cast as Judy Robinson. The writers for the reimagined hourlong drama are Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Zack Estrin will serve as showrunner for the reboot. Back in June, Netflix ordered 10 episodes for the first season from Legendary TV.

The new show will still feature the Robinson family and Netflix also stated that the characters in the upcoming series will be “forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure, it is a survival story for the ages.”

In a statement, Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content said “The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience.“The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”

Some of Russell’s other professional work on television include The CW’s Emily Owens MD, CBC’s Strange Empire, and Freeform’s Dead of Summer. Additionally, the actress portrayed Lark Voorhies in the Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story, a Lifetime movie.
