Take a New Behind-the-Scenes Peek at Netflix’s ‘One Piece’

The highly anticipated One Piece live-action series is coming to Netflix at the end of this month. While fans of the show are anxiously awaiting the premiere of their beloved anime turned into a live-action remake, the studio has dropped some more exciting features. Now, fans are able to see how the show has been made in the newly released behind-the-scenes look at the new series.

One Piece originally premiered as an anime in 1999 and is based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. The story surrounds Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate on a mission with his straw hat pirate crew to find the treasure known as “One Piece” and in finding this treasure, Luffy will then become the Pirate King. The animated series has hit a whopping total of 1,073 episodes in total and has been running for an impressive 24 years, making it one of the longest-running animes of all time.

While it is unclear as to which of the many arcs the new series will cover, the trailer that debuted in July showed fans that we will be seeing the characters of Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji who will join Luffy on his journey.

In the behind-the-scenes look, fans are able to see how Netflix is going to capture the cartoonish world of One Piece. This is not the first time that Netflix has adapted an anime into a live-action series. Both Death Note and Cowboy Bebop have been brought into the live-action world, and the new adaptation of Avatar: Last Airbender has been highly anticipated as well. The live-action adaptations were met with mixed reviews from fans of the original anime, so there is a lot of nervous anticipation when it comes to this very popular and beloved series.

One Piece will be starring Iñaki Godoy (The Imperfects) as Luffy, Emily Rudd (Fear Street) as Nami, Mackenyu (Knights of the Zodiac) as Zoro, Jacob Romero (Greenleaf) as Usopp, and Taz Skylar (Boiling Point) as Sanji. In the new feature, the actors tell fans how excited they are for the new series, and how the anime is going to come to life on the screens of dedicated fans and newcomers alike.
