Supernatural Spin-off?

Plenty of interesting information has come to light during this year’s comic-con.  Reportedly, Supernatural fans have something to look forward to as CW makes plans for a spin-off.

Executive producer Robert Singer mentioned at Comic-con that the show was planning back door pilot for the new spin-off, meaning the pilot will originally air as a Supernatural episode (similar to the introduction of The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals). During the Supernatural Comic-con panel,  one fan tweeted, “Robert Singer just mentioned #Supernatural spin off coming from episode 20 written by Andrew Dabb -more urban than the backroads.” TVLine reports the episode will introduce a new character who would then anchor the city-set spinoff, should it move forward.

Supernatural itself is entering its 9th season and the backdoor pilot is not the only thing causing excitement.  It has also been confirmed that Jim Beaver will return as Bobby Singer and Misha Collins will be reinstated as a series regular. Collins will also make his directing debut in  episode 9.17. Entertainment Weekly also reports that Felicia Day will reprise her role a Charlie in the upcoming season and, according to Singer, they have “big plans for her this year”.

Supernatural Season 9 premieres Tuesday, October 15 at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
