Actor Patrick J. Adams has been confirmed to be reprising his role of Mike Ross for the final season of the USA network’s legal drama, Suits. Adams will be returning during a mid season reveal, which ultimately leads Ross to get “involved in a case that will put him toe to toe with his former mentor Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl).”
The actor previously starred as a regular on the popular series, but departed during Suits‘ seven season outing –just around the same time his co-star and onscreen romantic interest, Meghan Markle left as well. The seventh season finale saw each of their respective characters tie the knot, before they leave to Seattle to pursue jobs involved in pro-bono work.
Now approaching its ninth and final season, which is set to premiere this coming July 17th, the series has other plans to create a spinoff following Gina Torres’ Jessica Pearson. In the beginning of the series, Adam’s Ross was the core focus after he was able to impress “Specter with his eclectic knowledge of law despite never having officially passed the bar, securing Ross a position at Specter’s law firm.”
But as the show progressed, Ross found himself in hot water as others learned of his secret constantly leading the duo to deal with the aftermath. The series’ eighth season ended with Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) being disbarred and leaving the firm, while Harvey and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) finally get together after years of sexual tension.
Suits final season will center on the newly created law firm between Robert, Harvey, Louis Litt, and Samantha, “as they face huge uncertainties and changes after Zane took the fall with the Bar Association to save Harvey. After his sacrifice, Samantha is left reeling from the loss of her mentor, and while trying to console her, Harvey realizes that he doesn’t want to lose the most important person to him: Donna.”
Adams other credits include: Amazon’s Sneaky Pete, Lost, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, Luck, and a short guest starring role on his wife’s (Torian Bellasario) show, Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars. He has also recently been cast in National Geographics’ series about John Glenn called, The Right Stuff.
