As Succession continues to roll out episodes of its fourth season, its third episode has set another audience record for the series. The shocking episode ,which aired on Sunday night, reached 2.5 million viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts, via Deadline.

This audience record set a new series high. According to Deadline, that’s 22% increase over last week’s Sunday audience of 2M and 7% more than episode one’s previous record setting audience of 2.3 million. The season two premiere episode has now reached nearly 7M viewers across platforms since its release, according to HBO. At the time of its release, that marked the best premiere night viewership performance of any HBO original series since HBO Max launched in May 2020.

In this season, the Roy family saga intensifies as audiences follow the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård, The Legend of Tarzan) looms. The prospect of that particular sale sparks more existential angst and familial division among the Roys, especially the family patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong, The Trial of the Chicago 7), Siobhan (Sarah Snook, Not Suitable for Children), Roman (Kieran Culkin, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) and Connor (Alan Ruck, The Dropout). A power struggle unfolds as the family faces a future where the fate of their cultural and political weight is threatened. The latest episode, without giving spoilers, provided the audience with a huge twist for the fate of the family.

Succession has been nominated for forty eight Emmys with thirteen wins including Best Drama Series wins for its previous seasons, including season two and season three, the latter of which premiered in 2021.
