Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the subject of an upcoming true crime docuseries, has been released from prison today, according to TVLine. The brand-new Lifetime docuseries entitled The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard will go through and show the now 32-year-old’s life experiences. Blanchard became infamous in 2016 when she was sentenced to 10 years in prison following her part in her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard’s, murder.
Also, according to TVLine, Dee Dee Blanchard had an illness called Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another, previously called Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. This illness caused Dee Dee to trick their family and friends into thinking Gypsy was sick with muscular dystrophy and leukemia, along with several other diseases. Dee Dee also forced her daughter to utilize a wheelchair when she didn’t need one and had Gypsy undergo a plethora of unneeded surgeries.
During June 2015, Gypsy appointed her longtime online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder her mother at their home in Springfield, Mo. Blanchard and Godejohn were then arrested a few days later.
“Nobody will ever hear me say I’m glad she’s dead or I’m proud of what I did,” said Gypsy to People. “I regret it every single day.”
The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard is set to premiere Friday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m./7c. The news of Blanchard’s release was first reported by TMZ.
