‘Stranger Things’ Star David Harbour Marries Musician Lily Allen in Las Vegas

Wedding bells chimed on Monday September 7 for 45-year-old Stranger Things actor David Harbour (Stranger Things, Hellboy) and British popstar Lily Allen. According to People, the ceremony took place just one day after the couple discretely secured marriage license but the news of the Vegas ceremony broke to fans yesterday when the couple shared photos of the ceremony on their respective Instagram pages.

Harbour’s Instagram post featured the couple and an Elvis Presley impersonator outside the iconic Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The actor behind Stranger Things‘ Sheriff Jim Hopper shared that the couple was married “by the King himself” (Instagram). Allen filled in the gaps of what the Elvis-officiated ceremony looked like from inside Graceland Chapel with her own Instagram post of the pair smiling while the King serenades them. As to the exact Elvis song being crooned, Harbour may have given hint when commenting the following “Can’t Help Falling In Love” lyrics on Allen’s post: “…darling some things are meant to be” (Instagram).

The couple’s journey to the altar started around the time of Harbour’s debut hosting gig at Saturday Night Live in October of 2019. Allen and Harbour were photographed together after the SNL tapping and, according to People, Allen stoked the rumor-mill when she posted zoomed-in screenshot of Harbour’s bicep from a sketch with the caption “mine”. At the end of October, Harbour confirmed the rumors by sharing photos of himself and Allen at Disney World in Florida via Instagram. The couple’s relationship has been public since then, they have shared photos from family vacations on social media and appeared side-by-side at multiple red carpet events including the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in January.

Harbour captioned the Disney World post, in which the couple became “social media official” via People, “the prince, princess and the parking lot.” This would not be the last occasion in which Harbour would cheekily refer to Allen as a “princess”, as he used the same term of endearment for her in his September 9 wedding post.

The prince and princess, as Harbour called them, shared another special moment in a parking lot after their Wednesday wedding. “Refreshments were served at a small reception following,” Harbour wrote on Instagram before sharing a second photo of himself, a face-mask-clad Allen and her daughters, Marnie Rose and Ethel, sharing a meal at In-N-Out Burger after the ceremony.

In-N-Out proved a popular choice on social media, particularly among Harbour’s Stranger Things castmates. Karen Wheeler Cara Buono (Stranger Things, Supergirl) commented on Harbour’s post “Congratulations and Best wishes!! In n Out yes!!” (Instagram). Meanwhile, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT), Buono’s on-screen son, simply wrote “INANDOUT4LYFE”, sans the congratulations, via Digital Spy. Harbour jokingly shot back at Wolfhard  “THAT’S your takeaway from this…ugh, the youth of today” in the Instagram comments.

Allen’s Instagram featured an individual photo of herself enjoying a burger from the popular West Coast chain while wearing her 60s-style wedding dress. According to People, Allen’s dress was a double-breasted Dior accompanied by a veil, suede platform heels and designer nails by nail technician Naomi Yasuda.

Though the couple’s been together nearly a year, they had never officially announced their engagement making the wedding a surprise to many. Perceptive fans noticed a ring making appearances on Allen’s Instagram posts starting back in May. “First rule of engagement club ………” Allen responded to commenter on Instagram who had taken note of the ring.

The 35-year-old British musician was previously married to builder/decorator Sam Cooper, and has two daughters from that marriage, via People. While Harbour, who has never been married before, does not have children of his own, he is familiar with playing the role of father-figure on-screen. Millie Bobbie Brown (Stranger Things, Godzilla), the actress behind Sheriff Hopper’s adopted daughter Eleven on Stranger Things, chimed in on the celebrating by adding “”Hopper is cuffed. wow. dad im proud” (Instagram).
