The beloved Netflix series Stranger Things, after long hiatus due to the actor strike, has finally begun production on season five. According to Screenrant, SAG-AFTRA’s tentative agreement with AMPTP allows filming on TV shows and movies to resume. Netflix’s popular original is currently in production. The series first made its televised debut on July 10, 2016, and has become one of the most popular Netflix series.
According to Screenrant, production on season five was meant to begin this summer but was delayed due to the writer’s strike. Both Hollywood labor strikes paused almost all production in Los Angeles, delaying many other series and films including NBC’s Law & Order franchise, HBO’s Emmy-nominated The Last of Us, Marvel’s Deadpool 3, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Gladiator sequel.
The upcoming season is sure to begin from the events from season four, where the Upside Down has made its way into Hawkins, and began to merge. With Millie Bobby Brown’s (Enola Homes) Eleven regaining her powers, she and her friends must prepare to battle Vecna aka Henry Creel, and the possible return of the Mind Slayer in order to save Hawkins. Season five also plans to center Noah Schnapp’s (Bridge of Spies) Will Byers, the boy who discovered the Upside Down that fateful October night.
Others in the cast include Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands), David Harbour (Black Widow), Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Gaten Matarazzo (The Angry Birds Movie 2), Caleb McLaughlin (Dora And The Lost City Of Gold), Sadie Sink (All Too Well: The Short Film), Natalie Dyer (I Believe In Unicorns), Charlie Heaton (Shut In), Joe Keery (Free Guy), Maya Hawke (Fear Street), Priah Ferguson (The Oath), Brett Gelman (The Other Guys), and Cara Buono (Person Of Interest).
Season five has also added The Terminator actress, Linda Hamilton, to the cast.
While season five will end this narrative, the universe of Stranger Things continues to expand. The prequel play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, will be in production soon. There is also an animated series within the Stranger Things universe.
According to Screenrant, no definitive filming date for Stranger Things’ final season was provided. However, news of its production signals it will be sooner than expected.
