Stranger Things fans must wait no longer. The Stranger Things Youtube channel recently released a trailer for the upcoming final series, in addition to the first 8 minutes of the upcoming season. Also recently released is a set of pictures taken during the shooting of the fourth season, as reported by Deadline.
Stranger Things is a highly-anticipated show airing on Netflix, in which following the mysterious and sudden vanishing of a young boy, the people of a small town start to uncover secrets of a government lab, portals to another world, as well as sinister monsters.
The photos and trailer for the fourth season hint at a darker tone for the series moving forward, which is something that the Duffer brothers, executive producers for the series, have spoken about recently. While interviewing on the podcast Present Company With Krista Smith, the brothers fully admitted to this direction being much of the focus of the upcoming season, saying:
“When we pitched it to Netflix all those years ago, we pitched it as the kids are…The Goonies in E.T.,” Ross Duffer details to Smith. “That’s their storyline. And the adults are in Jaws and Close Encounters and then the teens are in Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. But, this year, we don’t have the kids. We can’t do The Goonies anymore. And so, suddenly, we’re leaning much harder into that horror movie territory that we love. It was fun to make that change.”
Season 4 will premiere in two “volumes,” with the first coming on May 27th and the next one on July 1st. Watch the new trailer here:
