Stranger Things fans living in or around Los Angeles will be in for a treat next weekend. On June 29-30, Santa Monica Pier will be overtaken by the Upside Down. As TimeOut LA has revealed, fans can experience a variety of 80’s style Stranger Things pop-ups such as a dunking booth filled with slime, A Curiosity House, as well as ice cream from Scoops Ahoy, a parlor that will be featured in the upcoming third season. Stop by the Hawkins Bike Shop for a chance to win a replica of Max’s BMX. The most anticipated event will be the live performances, such as by 80’s cover bands and the Hawkins High School Cheerleaders. Additionally, the pier’s Pacific Park will also transform into Stranger Things styled amusements, with the names changing to “Hawkins Wheel” and “Hawkins’ Palace Arcade.”
Their most recently released trailer gives a glimpse at what fair-goers might expect.
The best part of this takeover? It’s completely free. Fans can enter the Upside Down June 29 and June 30 from 11am to 9pm. Season 3 of Stranger Things will premiere on Netflix July 4th, 11 days after they announced this beachside fair.
If one weekend isn’t enough, NBC has also learned that fans will once again get to experience Stranger Things at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, but this time, in the form of a maze. Not in LA? New Yorkers will also be in luck, with a Stranger Things carnival descending upon Coney Island over Fourth of July weekend. The East Coast takeover will occur July 4-July 7, transforming Coney Island’s iconic amusements such as the Tilt-A-Whirl, Ferris Wheel,Carousel, Thunderbolt, Tilt-A-Whirl, and Bumper Cars into Stranger Things themed attractions. Fans in New York also won’t want to miss the main event on Saturday night. There will be a Hawkins Fourth of July Spectacular Firework Show at 9:30 p.m on July 6.
