Stephen King’s Compliments To Paramount+’s ‘Evil’ Sparks Campaign To Renew

After the fourth and final season of Paramount+’s Evil ended without renewal, the series fans have gained hope for another season with the support of famed horror writer Stephen King (“It”, “Carrie”). According to Deadline, one of the series’ leading actresses, Katja Herbers (Westworld), who plays a forensic psychologist, has begun a campaign to renew the series with King’s support.

King took to social media to support the series, posting multiple X posts in admiration of the psychological mystery program. In a video interview with PBS News, King states, “There’s a show called Evil on Paramount+ that I like…It’s great. It’s funny and it’s witty and it’s very, very sharp,” according to Deadline. Herbers reposted the King interview on X (formerly Twitter), to which King himself quoted with, “Smart, thought-provoking, occasionally VERY scary. Plus, the chemistry between the three evil-hunters is strong and…to quote Kamala…joyful.” The official Paramount+ account responded graciously, thus adding fuel to the campaign.

Evil was created by Robert King (The Good Wife) and Michelle King (The Good Wife); Robert went on record to express that he and Stephen King have no relation. The series looks at the origins of evil and how it exists between religion and science.

Earlier this year, Evil was confirmed to end with its fourth season, with Paramount+ adding additional episodes to tie up loose ends. In an interview with Deadline, Robert King stated “it feels like there’ll be two more seasons…If we’re a victim of anything, it’s a timing…Obviously, since the strike, but also the Wall Street reevaluation of the business, there’s been a change in attitude on things. And obviously, as you probably know, with Paramount+ there is as some reevaluation of what they’re doing and the decision was made to end the show. And I think the popularity of the show didn’t really hit until after some of those decisions were made.”
