Stephen Colbert is at it again. After airing live shows after both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, Colbert is going to air a live show on election night on Showtime, a sister network of CBS, according to a press release.
The special, Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t?, will air on Nov. 8 at 11 p.m. on the East Coast and at 8 p.m. on West Coast, when most of the country will be glued to their televisions to find out if Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton or Republican nominee Donald Trump will be declared the new president of the United States.
In the press release, Colbert said “It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime.”
Since the special is being broadcast on Showtime, Colbert and his guests will be able to say anything they want without getting bleeped out.
Colbert’s special marks the first time that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert has partnered with Showtime to do a live special like the one he’s doing on election night. Behind-the-scenes production is going to be the same for the special as it is for Late Show, but will also feature Chris Licht, Tom Purcell and Jon Stewart, Colbert’s former Comedy Central talk show companion (they both had shows on Comedy Central at same time, as Colbert hosted The Colbert Report and Stewart hosted The Daily Show).
The special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City and will also feature many special guests that will appear throughout the night to talk about how election coverage is going.
Colbert had great success during his live shows he did during both of the conventions in July, including the memorable moment when Melania Trump (impersonated by Broadway star Laura Benanti) gave a statement to Colbert saying that she didn’t plagiarize her speech she made at the RNC.
Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t? airs on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 11 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST.
