‘Step Up: High Water’ Canceled Again at Starz; Ran Two Seasons On YouTube Premimum

Step Up: High Water is canceled after one season on Starz, after running the previous two seasons on YouTube before getting picked up by the Lionsgate-owned Starz, according to Deadline. Step Up: High Water’s cancellation follows the cancellation of another Starz television series yesterday, Dangerous Liaisons, via Deadline

The series is based on the Step Up franchise. It tells the story of the students and teachers at High Water Performing Arts School in Atlanta, specifically Sage Odom — played by Ne-Yo (Battle Los Angeles, Red Tails) — the legendary founder of Atlanta’s famed High Water Performing Arts School, and Collette Jones — played by Christina Milian (Be Cool, Love Don’t Cost a Thing) — Odom’s partner in High Water and in life, according Deadline

In addition to Ne-Yo and Milian, Step Up: High Water cast includes Terrence Green (Being Mary Jane, Stuck With You), Carlito Olivero (Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, Making Moves), Jade Chynoweth (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Max Winslow and the House of Secrets), Faizon Love (Friday, Elf) Eric Graise (Locke & Key, The Tomorrow War), and Marcus Emanuel Mitchell (High Strung, Good Trouble) and Naya Rivera (Glee, The Royal Family).

The series’ cancellation is a product of Lionsgate’s cost-cutting measures in preparation to spin off its studio from Starz next year, via Deadline. Step Up: High Water season one through three are available to stream on Starz.
