According to Deadline, Starz has just made an announcement that they will be starting production for season two of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The series will start to film today in Scotland, where the original series, Outlander, was filmed. Mark your calendars on Friday, August 8, 2025, as Starz will release all new episodes on the Starz app and all of the Starz on-demand streaming platforms for the audience to view.
Mathew B. Roberts (Outlander, HellCats), who serves as the showrunner and the executive producer for the period drama told Deadline, “The Passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stores in Season 2.” Roberts also mentioned that, “Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples with the meet them this summer”.
Even though this is a continuation of the Outlander universe, this prequel will serve as a stand-alone series. If viewers have not seen the first series, they can still get just as much enjoyment and thrill from the second. According to Deadline, the series continues between the battlefields of WWI and 18th-century Scotland, where we see two young couples develop, face challenges with many turmoils and forces that will try to tear them apart.
Deadline lists the prequel will star Tony Curran (Outlaw King, Thor: The Dark Wold), Rory Alexander (Out of Aces, 12), Seamus McLean Ross (California Schemin, Rebus), Sam Retford (Henry House, Midnight rental), and lastly Conor MacNeill (Bring Them Down, King Frankie).
According to an earlier article from mxdown, it was noted that Outlander was based on a novel by Diana Gabaldon (Outlander, Tide), which sold over 50 million copies. This next series should bring more adventure and excitement to all audiences.
