Prime Video’s hit series Good Omens is said to add a third season to the show’s run. Originally announced in December, the star of the show, Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex, The Queen), who plays Aziraphale, revealed some elements of the series’ final season with TV Insider.
Neil Gaiman, author of the original Good Omens novel and writer of the adaptation, stated that the show’s sophomore season consisted of the books, the original sequel concept and the novel itself, with the third season completely planned for some time now.
Based on the novel of the same name, Good Omens follows a stuck-up angel, Aziraphale, portrayed by Sheen, and a wild demon named Crowley, portrayed by David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones), as they try to stop the end of the world.
Since the third season’s initial announcement, news around the project has been relatively quiet. However, regarding the project Sheen… “It’s still in development, but obviously I’m very excited to work with David [Tennant] again, and I love that character. I’m very excited about it” (TV Insider). He also spoke on the fan engagement with the series and their potential reactions to the show’s ending, “You have to take it very seriously because people get really affected by it. And seeing how people reacted to the end of Season 2 was extraordinary. So yeah, I hope, and I’m sure, that Season 3 will be satisfying experience for everyone”, according to TV Insider.
In an exclusive with Pop Verse at Florida Supercon, Good Omens co-lead Tennant teased the directions of the third season, “I know where it’s going, and I defy anyone not to think that it’s the perfect ending…I’m not giving very much away with that. I’m not saying whether that’s good, bad, or indifferent, but it’s definitely perfect,” he states.
Both actors have spoken positively about the series with heavy anticipation of what is to come. Although no release date has been set, the third season is actively in development.
