With less than a month before its global premiere, Disney Plus has confirmed Star Wars: The Acolyte will be released during primetime, according to Comicbook. The new series set during the High Republic era will air new episodes at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on June 4. This is a rare occasion as many streaming series drop new episodes at midnight.
Comicbook reports the show’s exact airtime was revealed as part of the streaming services 2024 program listing and follows other series that opted for a primetime release, including Star Wars: Ahsoka, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Marvel’s Loki, and the recent Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) from Taylor Swift.
The series itself is highly anticipated for the first live-action depiction of the High Republic era, which has been previously explored throughout Star Wars novels, comics, and the animated universe. According to Comicbook, the series follows a set of Jedi investigating a rash of murders among their ranks. As they inch closer to the mystery, they discover a more sinister threat rising from the Dark Side of the Froce, threatening the realm’s balance and all in which they believe.
Star Wars: The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, Bodies. Bodies. Bodies.) and Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae. Supporting cast includes Manny Jacinto (I Want You Back, Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (Logan, His Dark Materials), Charlie Barnett (Russain Doll, Chicago Fire), Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse, After Yang), Rebecca Henderson (Appropriate Behavior, Single Drunk Female), Dean-Charles Chapman (Catherine Called Birdy, Nefire I Go to Sleep), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, The Matrix).
In addition to The Acolyte, fans of the galaxy far, far away have a few more TV projects awaiting. The latest series, Ahsoka, was renewed for a second season and follows Rosario Dawson (DMZ, Marvel’s Luke Cage) as the Jedi seeking to thwart Admiral Thrawn’s return. And Jude Law (The Third Day, Marvel’s Captain Marvel) stars in the upcoming Skeleton Crew set to follow younger characters of the galaxy.
Set your alarm clocks for The Acolyte at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on June 4 only on Disney Plus.
