According to Deadline, Star Wars: The Acolyte has been off to an amazing start since its premiere on Disney+. The series aired on the streamer on June 4th, with two episodes that generated 4.8 million viewers on the first day. This made the series the first biggest premiere on the platform this year since Ahsoka’s premiere last September. Ahsoka accumulated 14 million in the first five days, and The Acolyte is scheduled to surpass that benchmark.
As per Deadline, Disney+ is known for being inconsistent with viewership data. A past result was the premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians which debuted in December. After a week, the streamer announced the six-day viewership tally to the public. With the new single-day tally, the platform shows how much they expect The Acolyte to perform well.
“Star Wars: The Acolyte was created by Lesley Headland (Sleeping With Other People), known for working on Russian Doll, Single Drunk Female and many other projects. Like many other Star Wars series, the mystery thriller brings viewers into a galaxy far, far away. The series follows a former Padawan as they reunite with their Jedi Master to investigate a vast amount of crimes that have been happening during the dark and final days of the High Republic Era.
The cast of the series includes Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) as Mae, Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game) as Master Sol, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) as Qimir, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim) as Mother Aniseya, Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials) as Jecki Lon, Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna) as Vernestra Rhow, Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll) as Yord Fandar, Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) as Torbin and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) as Indara.
