‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ Takes On A WonderCon Exclusive Panel With Cast Ravi Cabot-Conyers and Robert Timothy Smith

Disney+ takes on WonderCon in Anaheim, CA, with an exclusive panel for the popular series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Fans got to interact with beloved actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Grassland, BlackAF), who stars as Wim, and Robert Timothy Smith (Dear Santa, Wolfs), who stars as Neel today at the panel.

Skeleton Crew became an instant hit when it premiered back in December 2024. The show gained its traction not only for the Star Wars title, but for taking the franchise into a new light. Skeleton Crew follows a group of kids lost in the Star Wars galaxy who just want to get home, but in an ever-changing galaxy, the kids must navigate the new Republic era.

The panel started with Cabot-Conyers and Smith zooming out on stage with their lightsabers. The pair seemingly have a tight bond as jokes and laughs were shared for the whole panel. Mediator Carly King (content creator) opened the panel with a heart-warming discussion on having the boys share the moment they found out they were cast in the Star Wars series.

Cabot-Conyers shared, “Initially I had no idea; there was an inkling that it was Disney related. It was called untitled, so we really had no idea about [it]. As we got further into the casting process, it was announced that it was Star Wars, and of course, we were so excited.” Smith then added on and said,I had a certain clue that it was going to be for Star Wars but then when we confirmed it I was freaking out, there’s a whole video of me but I’m not going to show anybody that.”

The actors then went on to share the casting process of a high-profile show. Cabot-Conyers explained that the show went through a series of code names; this time all the characters were previously named after Simpsons characters to maintain confidentiality. King continues the panel by asking the actors if a personal experience or piece of media helped them connect with the characters they portray. Smith shared listening to The Goonies soundtrack, and hover bikes got him into the zone for the show. Cabot-Conyers shared, “So much of me was in my character, coincidentally John said ‘Ravi you are Whim and Whim is you.’ I am so much like Whim that I feel like I am translated into my character.”

Later, the panel went on to discuss the behind-the-scenes of the show and even commented on the most popular snacks on set. The actors shared their love of Diet Coke and Trader Joe’s Manzanilla Olives. As the panel ended, the pair expressed their love to fans, saying it was the best part of the Star Wars experience. The panel concluded with an epic lightsaber battle, and Cabot-Conyers was crowned the winner. The actors were asked if they had taken a souvenir from the set, which both boys shared. Smith took a tape measure from his famous utility belt in the show, and Cabot-Conyers was given a real lightsaber from the show.

Along with Cabot-Conyers and Smith, some other cast members viewers see are Jude Law (Eden, The Order) starring as Jod Na Nawood, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (She Came Back, The Old Way) as Fern and Karina Kratter (Dear Felicity, Bunk’d) starring as KB.
