Disney announces the plan to release a new Star Wars series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, on December 3, 2024, on Disney+. According to Comicbook.com, the series will occur in the New Republic timeframe like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
The story will be centered around a human Jedi, Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore). When asked by PEOPLE magazine what fans should expect in this upcoming series, Law gave nothing but praise and optimism about the show.
“ It is a fun place to be, the universe of Star Wars. And there are great references to old films and recent episodes and series. There’s a lot of originality and I hope that will bring the feeling of fun to those who watch it,” Law said according to PEOPLE.
Alongside Law, four child actors are also playing important roles in the upcoming series: Ravi Cabot-Conyers (#blackAF) as Wim, Kyriana Kratter as KB, Robert Timothy Smith (Good Girls) as Neel, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Firestarter), as Fern.
Law tells PEOPLE his experiences working with these four young stars on set.
“ I had a wonderful time making this with everyone involved. Those four in particular who worked with me very closely were just great fun and incredibly professional, and I am immensely proud to be a part of their crew,” Law said.
In addition, the creators of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Jon Watts (Spiderman: Homecoming), and Christopher Ford (Cop Car), reveal a new droid named SM 33, which will be voiced by Nick Frost ( Ice Age: Continental Drift).
“He’s like a rusty old, cranky droid that sort of reluctantly helps the kids along the way. The other thing about him is that he is the first mate of a mysterious ship,” Watts and Frost told the PEOPLE.
The synopsis of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is as follows:
“Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home – and meeting unlikely allies and enemies – will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”
