Star Wars ‘Andor’ Announces Second Season Premiere Date At Disney+

Fans of Star Wars series Andor can finally mark their calendars for when the critically acclaimed Rogue One prequel will return. According to Comicbook, the second season of the politically charged thriller is set to premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025. The date was revealed via a new ad poster in the Disney+ app and later confirmed at the weekend’s D23 event in Brazil.

This date yields even more excitement for devout followers of the Force as it’s only two days after next year’s scheduled Star Wars Celebration ends. Comicbook reports the annual convention of everything in a galaxy far, far away is set for April 18 through April 20. That means the second season premiere will be accompanied by a plethora of news on Star Wars projects in the near and distant future.

Premiering in November of 2022, Andor follows the five years before the events of the 2016 film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film tracked a group of rebels confiscating the blueprints for an Imperial weapon known as the Death Star. Diego Luna (Narcos: MexicoThe Book of Life) reprises his film role as Cassian Andor, an orphan-raised thief who eventually becomes a leader in the Resistance.

The first season’s stellar cast included Kyle Soller (Marrowbone, Poldark), Genevieve O’Reilly (The Secret, Tin Star), Adria Arjona (Father of the Bride, 6 Underground), Stellan Skarsgård (Mamma Mia, Dune), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Enola Holmes), Denise Gough (Under the Banner of Heaven, Monday), Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien, Harley Quinn), and Forest Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem, The Butler) who reprised his movie role as the Resistance extremist, Saw Gerrera.

Andor’s second season was officially announced at last year’s SW Celebration with writing and production commencing soon after. Series creator, Tony Gilroy (DuplicityThe Bourne Legacy), ceased all duties with the series in the wake of May’s writers’ strike. By July, the Screen Actors Guild joined the writers for the first dual labor strike strike in 60 years, halting the series’ production.

Season one of Andor is available to stream on Disney+ and physical media by retailers.
