Netflix’s Star Trek: Prodigy will be released on Netflix in December. The first season of the animated series comes after fans fought to have the show released on streaming following its cancellation from Paramount+ in June. According to Screenrant, the series producers, Dan Hageman (The Lego Movie), Kevin Hageman (The Croods: A New Age), and Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy), thanked fans for their support for Star Trek: Prodigy.
A verified account on X called Netflix Geeked, announced the official date for Star Trek: Prodigy’s release, which will be on Christmas. Following the near new year release of all twenty episodes in season one, season two is set to be available for streaming in 2024. Star Trek: Prodigy follows a crew of adolescent aliens who will have to work together while traveling the galaxy. The six main characters come with little knowledge about the ship they are commanding. The cast of the show includes Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) as Gwyn, Rylee Alazraqui (Witness Infection) as Rok-Tahk, Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth) as Jankom Pog, Brett Gray (I’m a Virgo) as Dal, Angus Imrie (Fleabag) as Zero, Kate Mulgrew (Orange Is the New Black) as Hologram Kathryn Janeway, John Noble (Lord of the Rings) as The Diviner, Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) as Drednok, Dee Bradley Baker (Phineas and Ferb) as Murf, and more.
At a Las Vegas Star Trek convention, several minutes of Star Trek: Prodigy season two was played for fans. Via Screenrant, in the four minute reveal of the second season, it featured The Doctor, played by Robert Picardo (Innerspace), who was in Star Trek: Voyager, as well as Lamarr-class starship, the USS Voyager- A, a deep space explorer. Season two is expected to tie into the Star Trek franchise. First, fans have to wait six and a half more weeks until they can watch the first season on Netflix.
