Stan Lee, the Marvel Comics legend will be starring in a television series, Comic Book Resources reports. Lee’s POW! Entertainment will team up with The Hollywood Reporter and Genius Brands International Inc. to launch an adult animated series titled Cosmic Crusaders. The show will follow Lee himself after he comes across seven aliens who have crash-landed on Earth.
Cosmic Crusaders was written by Fabian Nicieza, the co-creator of Deadpool. The series is based on a concept by Lee where viewers will find him with a case of writer’s block. That is until the extraterrestrial beings arrive. But these seven aliens happen to have superpowers. However, they can only use their super alien abilities in their homeland. So in order to help these aliens out, Lee offers them shelter and hardcore superhero immersion training. That way they can master their powers on earth.
Lee will edit and voice his own character and he’ll also be one of the series’ main characters. Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, will develop the cover graphics. The first four episodes of Cosmic Crusaders is aimed at 18 to 34-year-olds and will premiere on THR.com, with one episode airing each day during Comic-Con International later this year. Smartphone VR viewers will be provided at Comic-Con for the debut episode, which will be presented in virtual reality.
