‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Spin-off ‘The Patrick Star Show’ Receives Fourth and Fifth Season Order

Deadline reports that Nickelodeon has renewed the animated series The Patrick Star Show for fourth and fifth season, each consisting of 13 episodes. The show is the second spin-off of the hugely popular SpongeBob SquarePants series, which continues to air on Nickelodeon after over twenty years. Whereas Kamp Koral focuses on younger versions of the original characters, The Patrick Star Show focuses exclusively on Patrick Star, voiced by Bill Fagerbakke (Young Sheldon, Young Justice), and his family, including his father, Cecil Star, voiced by Tom Wilson (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) and adopted sister Squidina Star, voiced by Jill Talley (The Loud House).

Originally picked up in 2020 with a 26-episode order, the series was renewed for a 26-episode second season in March 2022, halfway through its freshman run. An executive decision was made to split the second installment into two seasons (seasons two and three), to keep their sizes more consistent with streaming consumption patterns. The renewal announced today at NYCC is also for a 26-episode order, but this time, it is being split into two seasons (four and five) from the get-go.

The 12-episode second season of The Patrick Star Show was concluded in August. The second part of season three and the announcement of a supersized holiday special was launched earlier this week.

The series follows Patrick Star as he hosts his very own talk show with the support of his family. Full of goofy humor and slapstick violence, it’s another journey through the colorful Bikini Bottom, with Patrick’s “wild whims and surreal imagination” being given top billing.
