*Spoiler*
In the recent episode of X-Men ’97, there is a reference to the concept of “Absolute Points” from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). According to Comicbook, the episode shows Cable stating why he couldn’t stop the attack of Genosha. Beast suggests that this could be due to what Kamar-Taj mystics call the “absolute point.” The concept of the absolute point didn’t come out of thin air as it was introduced back in What If…? and was explained as an event in a timeline that cannot be changed. This easter egg has excited fans as it suggests that X-Men ’97 could be part of the larger MCU.
According to Comicbook, even though X-Men ’97 has been reported to be its own corner in the MCU, but it would seem that concepts from previous shows have seeped into the plot. There were numerous appearances of famous characters such as Captain America, Spider-Man, Silver Samurai, and other icons of the franchise. This opens the possibilities of future crossover with other famous characters within the animation. Headwriter, A.C. Bradley (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) gives her opinion on The GOAT Movie Podcast.
“When you’re writing animation, you’re writing so far into the future that you can’t think four years down the line,” Bradley explained on The GOAT Movie Podcast. via Comicbook “That Doctor Strange episode, I wrote in February of 2019. I think I should’ve called it a Nexus Point instead of an Absolute Point. The Loki scripts weren’t even written yet, so that animatic locked before Loki even finished their scripts because you’re always writing about two years ahead of animation. It’s kind of intense and insane.”
The show has one episode left ,which is set to release on May 8th on Disney+. Fans can only speculate on how the heroes will be able to save the future for all mutants and if there will second season for the series.
