In the first part of the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, Christina Ricci‘s (The Addams Family, Yellowjackets) character, Marilyn Thornhill, made her unexpected return to the series. However, she isn’t the only one to make a shocking return. In the recently released trailer for the second part of the season below, Principal Larissa Weems, who is played by Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Severance), has suddenly returned, too.
Her return comes after Wednesday, who is played by Jenna Ortega (Scream VI, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), regains consciousness in the aftermath of an encounter with the Hyde, Tyler, who is played by Hunter Doohan (Daredevil: Born Again, Your Honor).
Luckily, Wednesday survives her encounter with the Hyde, despite the cliffhanger from Part One. However, as it turns out, Principal Weems is actually Wednesday’s new spirit guide, a figure she had been searching for in the first part of the second season. Weems is responsible for assisting Wednesday with her psychic powers from beyond the grave. In the first season of the series, her spirit guide was Goody Addams, also played by Jenna Ortega.
“Tyler’s still out there. He has plans to kill both of us. I’m going to fix it,” Wednesday tells Enid, who is played by Emma Myers (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, A Minecraft Movie), in the trailer. Enid is her werewolf roommate turned friend. Wednesday saw her death in a psychic vision and is doing everything she can to prevent it.
In the trailer, Weems is seen speaking to Wednesday, but when Wednesday responds, Enid asks who she’s talking to. No one can see Weems except for Wednesday.
“Every family has dark chapters, Wednesday,” Wednesday’s mother Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones (Ocean’s Twelve, Side Effects), says.
At the end of the trailer, an unknown voice says, “Beware, there will be a price to pay.” Deadline predicts it may be Lady Gaga (American Horror Story: Hotel, Joker: Folie à Deux), whose role in the series, according to mxdwn, was revealed recently.
According to another article on mxdwn, Wednesday has recently been renewed for a third season. Part Two of the second season will premiere on September 3, Deadline writes.
