The season finale of Marvel’s miniseries, Wonder Man delivered an unexpected twist showcasing Simon, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Candyman), and his unique brand of heroism, but leaving fans to wonder what consequence will be dealt to him in the future. According to Screenrant, Simon was seen using his powers to break Trevor, played by Ben Kingsley (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Iron Man 3) out of jail, while at the same time revealing his secret powers. Furthermore, the DODC discovered the prison escape and pursuit of the duo, but they eventually escape and now are on the lamb.
Reported by Screenrant, Abdul, Kingsley and the series showrunner, Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Hawkeye) speak in an interview about what consequences will befall within the ending. Guest started first by saying,” I don’t think we could choose one or the other.”
Followed up by Kingsley, who states Of course we [want a second season]. It would be dishonest to say, ‘Ooooh, I don’t know. Let’s wait.’ Of course we do. I’ll say it to the world.
Abdul finishing up with,”Absolutely.”
The cast’s statement clearly demonstrates their deep investment in the series and their enthusiasm for exploring its future direction. Reported by Screenrant, if the season will be greenlit for another season, fans can expect answers to the secret such as how Simon came to have his powers and whether or not that he would be mutant. Another season could introduce villains that have some connection to Simon, with one being his brother, Eric who’s known as the grim reaper. It is still too early to tell whether the series will earn a second season, as the Wonder Man’s finale has earned an outstanding 90% rating and has placed it among the top-watched series in the Marvel franchise.
All episodes of Wonder Man are available to stream on Disney+.
