It: Welcome to Derry continues to deepen the mythology behind the curse town of Derry, with the latest episode giving out a crucial clue. According to Screenrant, the third episode. “Now You See It”, offers the viewer a flashback into the year 1908, and gets to see the connection between Francis Shaw, played James Remar (Dexter, Black Lightning) and Rose, played by Kimberly Guerrero (Dogman, Geronimo). The flashback shows the two attending a fair and just after a day they encounter one of Pennywise’s, played by Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove, Nosferatu) forms, but luckily they escape and find out the entity can not leave the woods.
Stated by Screenrant, we received surprising information that anyone who leaves Derry immediately forgets meeting Pennywise, as seen with Francis when he left; however, he remembered upon his return.
In an interview with Screenrant, Remar and Guerrero goes to speak about the significance of their character’s complicated relationship, with the later stating,”For Rose, the way that she walks within the power and the position that she holds as an ancestral knowledge keeper, a wisdom keeper, and a protector, it all stems back from this summer. She already knew that she was called to this duty, but I don’t think she ever expected love to sideswipe her, like first love does.”
Remar adds in with Screenrant,”the fact that it moves the direction of our story, and the way we want it to go, is a tremendous compliment. It means that it is very effective in the storytelling motion, that what happened to us as little kids propelled us into this situation 50 years later. I think it means everything.”
Stated by Screenrant, with every new episode release, we seem to be getting closer to a debut with Pennywise, evidenced by the silhouette in the picture taken by the kids or the creature wagon which was located underground and discovered by the army. All three episodes of It:Welcome to Derry are available to stream on HBO Max with new ones release every Sunday.
