For many years, Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus (Helluva Boss, Blade II) has been crucial part and a moral compass within the The Walking Dead franchise. According to Screenrant, Daryl’s current journey has taken him far from home and landed him into new trouble within the zombie apocalypse. In the start of season one, Daryl was hot-headed and acted as an antihero usually butting heads with Rick, played by Scott Grimes (Afterlife, Talking Dead), but soon the two became close friends throughout the season.
Screenrant reports, one significant event throughout the series that would have pushed Daryl over the edge is the death of his brother, Merle, played by Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad) by the Governer, played by David Morrissey (Britannia,Sherwood).
Stated by Screenrant, Daryl isn’t alone within the spin-off series, as he reunited with Carol, played by Melissa Mcbride (The Mist, Living Proof), and the new season takes the duo throughout an infested Spain in which they come in contact with new allies and enemies. In the current episode, Carol is gravely injured when they were in a deadly car crash, in which Daryl witnessing this reverted him back to his old ways, violently seeking medical aid for her. It is implied that if Carol were to die during this season, then the last strip of humanity left in Daryl will be gone and he would go insane.
According to Screenrant, while the ongoing apocalypse continues to challenge Daryl, it is unlikely that he will turn into a villain in the spin-off series. Instead, he is expected to remain a moral anchor. The series highlights his skills and his role as a protector. All seasons and current episodes of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, along with other installments of the franchise, are available for streaming on AMC+.
