Avatar: Seven Havens reached an explosive finale today, with several burning questions answered (and several mysteries left to unravel). The show’s creators spoke with GamesRadar to clarify some plot points — and to tease what is coming next.
The season 1 finale revealed that the twins Pavi and Nisha were separated from their parents, Saumya and Pramodh, by Nisha’s hand. After leaving Nisha behind to be found by Captain Karthik, the young girl becomes emotional and unleashes her power, causing a massive rockfall. The resulting avalanche seemingly kills Saumya and Pramodh and causes Pavi to lose her leg. When asked if the twins’ parents might have survived, co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi (The Winchesters, Two Sentence Horror Stories) answered, “There’s no way I’m answering that! It’s a horrible tragedy that we will learn more about as the girls deal with that in season two.” So it seems there may be more to the story.
The season finale also sets up season 2 of the series by having Jae and Pavi travel to a new Haven, the Floating Isles. When asked about this Haven, executive producer Ethan Spaulding (The Simpsons, Avatar: The Last Airbender) responded by saying, “I’d say get your surfboards. I think if you guys freeze-frame, you can kind of get a vibe of what that haven might be like. But yeah, it’s a fun place.” For those worried about Ellora being left behind, series co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino (Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra) added, “Ellora still has a presence in Book Two, for sure.”
DiMartino also confirmed that season two is in an advanced stage of production, while seasons three and four are deeper in production than most fans might believe given that they were only just announced. “I’ll just say that I don’t know exactly when you will see [Book Two], but we have it all written, and everything’s being worked on and completed,” DiMartino said. “We’re still working on it, but yeah, it’s all being done.”
