Avatar: Seven Havens premiered just last week, and already fans are bursting with questions about the series. Over on Teen Vogue‘s TikTok, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino answered some of these burning questions.
First off, the creators were asked by Teen Vogue about why the co-creators decided to make Pavi and Nisha into twin Avatars. The creators answered that neither Korra nor Aang had any siblings, and that they wanted to tell a story about sisters rediscovering one another. While the twin Avatars concept was not the initial idea, it came to them very early on in development. The two were also asked if one of the twins may be a ‘Dark Avatar’, and the duo decided to plead no comment, but DiMartino said he loves when fans come up with theories.
The co-creators were also asked by Teen Vogue if they hated Avatar Korra (she’s credited so far with causing the Cataclysm that leads into Avatar: Seven Havens — at least for now). “If people don’t like Korra as a character, they don’t like that series, like that’s totally fine,” Konietzko says. “We both love Korra, and I’m really proud of that series.” Konietzko credited much of the hate on Korra to misogyny and homophobia. “She’s one of my favorite characters,” DiMartino adds.
The co-creators also answered a myriad of other questions about Avatar: Seven Havens, so the Teen Vogue interview is definitely worth a watch. As for Avatar: Seven Havens itself, its fourth, fifth, and sixth episodes will be releasing this Friday on Paramount+.
