Previous seasons of Prime Video’s The Boys left audiences stunned by the return of Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Countdown), ahead of the series’ final chapter. According to Screenrant, the foruth season’s post credit showcases Homelander, played by Anthony Starr (Cobweb, Banshee) being lead towards a mysterious room, which he finds that Soldier Boy and takes hime out of his cryogenically frozen state to kill his enemies. Furthermore, it was revealed that Ackles’ character was exposed to a dealdy virus , V-One which targets Supes, but has miraculously survived its deadly effects
Reported by Screenrant, in an interview with TV Insider, the series’ creator, Eric Kirpke (Gen V, Timeless), discussed the symbolism of the character surviving the lethal illness and how it would effect the future of the final season”Yes, it is true that Soldier Boy is not dead, and the reasons that he’s seemingly immune to this virus are what really set up the primary MacGuffin of the season. It really turns everything on its head. Suddenly, there is a way to survive the virus, and so it becomes a race of who acquires it. If Homelander acquires it, it’s game over. If The Boys acquire it, then maybe the people that they love can survive, and so everyone’s battling for the future. Can they survive this war? Can they survive this particular virus? And this storyline becomes a big driver of the season.”
Stated by Screenrant, while the final season is set to wrap up the story which started back in 2019, in is opening the possibility of delving deeper into the upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising. The prequel’s narrative will center on his early missions with a young Stormfront, played by Aya Cash (The Franchise, Scare Me), as Vought evolves and grow.
As of right now the first two episode of The Boys final season are available to stream on Prime Video, with new weekly release every Wednesday.
