The slow-burning tension within FX’s sci-fi series, Alien: Earth, has increased to new heights, and a major character’s death is displayed within the latest episode. According to Comicbook, with the sixth episode titled “The Fly”, the brutal narrative of the series has not only advanced the plot, with the crew now being treated like pieces on a chessboard, until each of them will fall down. Viewers are also introduced to the last titled species that was onboard the crashed research vessel, along with the xenomorph, blood bugs, eye octopus, and flower bud.
Reported by Comicbook, the first major death in the sixth episode was Tootles, played by Jonathan Ajayi (Wonder Woman 1984, Vigil). He was responsible for taking care of the extraterrestrial test subjects, but left the door open. This allowed the eye octopus to take control of the RAM and lock Tootles inside. Shortly after, an alien bug lunged at him and spat a corrosive metal substance onto his face, killing him. However, since Tootles is a hybrid, we cannot rule out the possibility that his consciousness could be transferred to another copy of him. Therefore, he isn’t considered dead.
According to Comicbook, the second victim within the episode was Arthur Sylvia, played by David Rysdahl (No Exit, The Revival). Arthur went to check on Tootles in the lab after finding his hybrid body was not online. Arthur is accompanied by Slightly, played by Adarsh Gourav (Hostel Daze, The White Tiger), who was coerced by Babou Ceesay’s (Wolf, Guerrilla) Morrow to sacrifice a human to one of the facehuggers. Seeing his chance, Slighly seals Arthur’s fate, setting the facehugger loose. It lunges and ultimately kills the scientist.
Comicbook states that with the dangerous subjects now loose and causing chaos, survival has become the top priority for everyone within the facility. In the upcoming episodes, we will see different viewpoints as each person develops their own plan to address the situation. All current episodes of Alien: Earth are available to stream on Hulu, with new episodes released weekly every Tuesday on FX.
