The fifth and final season of Prime Video’s highly acclaimed superhero series, The Boys has just delivered gut-wrenching heroic sacrifice of one its beloved characters. According to Comicbook, the character in question that makes this deed is A-Train, played by Jessie T. Usher (Smile, Independence Day: Resurgence), who lures Homelander, played by Anthony Starr (Cobweb, Banshee) away in order for the rest of the group to escape.
Unfortunately, A-Train dodged an unknown citizen to not repeat his past mistake, but this flung him off the road and allowed Homelander to catch up to him; he then goes on to diss him, which resulted in getting his neck snapped.
In an interview with Comicbook, Jessie and the series creator, Eric Kripke speak on A-Train’s final moments in the season,”I felt like we were just waiting to see how it was going to happen. He had no allies, he had no one that he can depend on or manipulate or even ask a favor from who would put their life on the line to keep things going for him. So it was a long time coming.”
In accordance with Comicbook, the character’s final moment showcase his choose from being self-preserve and always running to now being the type of hero he wanted to be. Furthermore, he does not seek forgiveness from those he has wronged in the typical fashion; instead, he leaves in a moment of clarity and purpose. This ending for the speedster was truly poetic, in which A-Train finally understood the meaning of being a symbol og justice.
The first two episodes of The Boys final season are available to stream on Prime Video, with weekly episodes release every Wednesday. With each remaining episode, the fate of Earth is at stake, as are the group’s frantic efforts to bring down Vought and Homelander at any cost.
