Netflix has renewed She’s Gotta Have It. The half-hour series is based on the 1986 movie that launched Spike Lee as a filmmaker.
Lee confirmed the news on New Year’s Day via Instagram when he posted a video with his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee. They thanked the fans for supporting the show with saying, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Wise also took to Instagram to announce and celebrate the news.
The Netflix series stars DeWanda Wise as the main character Nola Darling, a Brooklyn artist who struggles to define herself and divide her time among friends, her job, and her lovers. The show also stars Anthony Ramos, Cleo Anthony, Lyriq Bent, Greer Childs, Heather Headley, Margot Bingham, Chyna Layne, and Elise Hudson. Lee, his wife Tonya, Barry Michael Cooper, and Lynn Nottage serve as executive producers.
Season 1 of She’s Gotta Have It premiered in November with 10 episodes. Lee directed all 10 episodes.
