‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Star Genesis Rodriguez Is Being Added To ‘The Night Agent’ Cast

According to Deadline, Genesis Rodriguez (Rival, Unbreak My Heart), most known for her role as Josephina Carillo in Special Ops: Lioness, is joining The Night Agent cast for season three. Netflix representatives declined to comment. Although there are no details describing who she will play, it is confirmed she will be a regular character in the conspiracy thriller. Season three was renewed in October and production will begin in Istanbul by the end of this year, followed by a New York shoot in 2025.

The Night Agent is New York Times Best Seller adaptation written by Matthew Quirk (Dead Man Switch, The 500) and its first season ranks #7 on Netflix’s Most Popular Chart. Via Deadline, the logline is as follows as they show: “FBI’s Peter Sutherland (Basso) manning a phone in the basement of the White House that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that leads all the way to the Oval Office.”

Shawn Ryan (The Shield, S.W.A.T.) discussed that each session will have a self-contained story for new characters and plot. The first season was set in Washington DC and filmed in Vancouver. The second season began production in New York and further developed in Thailand and Washington, D.C.

The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executively produced by Seth Gordon (Atypical, Identity Thief) and Julia Gunn (The Lost City, United We Fall) for Exhibit A, Marney Hochman (Timeless, The Last Resort) and Ryan for MiddKid Productions, Paul Neinsteinn (Fountain of Youth, Abigail), James Vanderbilt (White House Down, Ready or Not), William Sherak (I Hate Valentine’s Day, Daddy Day Camp) and Nicole Tossou (The Worst Best Man) for Project X, David Beaubaire (Fatherhood, Blade Runner 2049) for Sunset Lane Media and Munis Rashid (Bobo, S.W.A.T.).

Being represented by Jackoway Austen Tyerman, UTA and Untitled Entertainment. Rodriguez started off her career by starring in Telemundo series’ Dame Chocolate, Dona Barbara and Prisionera. She then appeared on shows such as The Umbrella Academy, Lioness and Neon.
