Deadline has reported that South Park has found a new target for ridicule early into their 28th season. Ironically, it’s themselves. South Park took a stab at self-deprecating humor in its Halloween special ‘The Woman In The Hat’. In the episode, Stan says, “Everyone knows it. South Park sucks now, and it’s because of all this political shit.”

According to Deadline, the show’s 27th season did not shy away from political commentary and faced backlash, and some fans believe it may have become too political.

South Park has made a name for itself through unapologetic satire of the establishment. Often pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable. The Trump administration has been notoriously reactive to ridicule, with many blaming administration pressure for the cancellation of Late Night With Stephen Colbert.

Deadline has reported that in Friday’s episode, Stan’s dad loses his job at the USGS due to the government shutdown. Stan and his family are then forced to move into his grandfather’s retirement home. Stan starts the “South Park Sucks Now” cryptocurrency meme coin in an attempt to move his family back into their home and out of the retirement community.

According to Deadline, the episode eventually makes its way to the White House. Members of the Trump cabinet hold a séance in an attempt to exorcise the ghost of Melania, who is said to haunt the East Wing.  Pam Bondi, who notably has poop in her nose, oversees the ceremony while Brendan Carr and Kristi Noem are also in attendance.

Deadline has reported that Stephen Miller states the ghost of Melania was unleashed by the demolition of the East Wing. Subjects of the film series The Conjuring, Ed and Loraine Warren, are called to Pennsylvania Avenue to investigate the White House’s paranormal activities.

According to Deadline, the episode ends with Kyle’s cousin, also named Kyle, making his way to the White House to gain approval for their meme coin. Kyle’s cousin Kyle is arrested after publicly admitting that the “The South Park Sucks” coin was nothing more than a scam.
