Argentinean football (soccer) captain Lionel Messi has partnered up with Sony Music Entertainment to develop a new animated series after conquering the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year, according to a Deadline Exclusive. This new animated series, aimed at young adolescents and children, will feature the football player as he tackles obstacles while voyaging through and through a videogame. The animated series will also feature original music from Sony Music Entertainment composers and artists.
“It is a privilege for Sony Music to collaborate with Lionel Messi on this project to showcase the power and lessons of sport in association with the greatest soccer player of all time and one of the greatest athletes in history,” declared Executive Vice President of Business Development, Latin-Ibero-American Region, of Sony Music Entertainment, Fernando Cabral.
According to BOLAVIP, this will be the first time the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star, who has only previously acted in a cameo for an Argentine series, will be involved with the production of a television series.
“Since I was a child, I have always loved animated series and my children are huge fans of animated characters. Being able to participate in an animation project makes me happy, because it fulfills one of my dreams. I would like to thank Sony Music for joining this project and we hope that everyone likes the result, especially the girls and boys,” proclaimed Messi.
This animated series will be produced in English, Spanish, and various other languages. Leo Messi Management and Sony Music’s Premium Content Division partnered up for the production and will oversee the development and distribution of the series.
“We look forward to bringing this heartwarming and humbling series to screens for audiences of all ages around the world,” added Cabral.
The anticipated animated series has also gotten a Tweet recognition from The Hollywood Handle:
As of now, there is no premiere date for the series. There is also no network or streaming service attached to the project either. Stay tuned for more details on Messi’s upcoming animated series project.
