According to Deadline, Judalina Neira (The Boys, Conflicting Reports) and Fox TV are developing the classic show Bewitched as a reboot. Doug Robinson (The Goldbergs, For Life) will be the executive producer along with Sony Pictures Television. Fox will co-produce with Sony Pictures. Neira and Robinson recently closed new deals with the Sony studios. Bewitched was the first project that Neira took on in 2024 as she completed this new deal with Sony.

The new reboot, as Deadline describes, will be as heartfelt as the original show was. The show will be similar, focusing on the love between Samantha and Darren, despite them coming from two different worlds. Darren is human, while Samatha is the witch. They will attempt to live their lives together as normally as possible, even when facing conflicts from disapproving parents and trying to bridge their cultural divide.

Deadline mentioned that Neira is not only the writer but also an executive producer, along with Robinson, who has been with Sony Pictures for over 23 years. During his tenure, his successful credits have included Happy Madison and The Goldbergs. He is expected to extend his deal with the studio.

Deadline also noted that Neira has had hit shows on Prime Video, including The Boys and The Horror of Dolores Roach as a co-executive producer. Neira boasts an impressive resume, including being a 2023 graduate of the WGA showrunner training program and the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Series Scriptwriters Program.

According to Deadline, the original Bewitched ran for eight seasons on ABC from 1964 to 1972, created by Sol Saks (Bewitched in Tokyo, Premiere) and EP’d by Harry Ackerman (The New Gidget, The Flying Nun). The character Samantha was played by Elizabeth Montgomery (Belle Starr, The Hollywood Palace).  All three networks — ABC, NBC, and CBS — have attempted to reboot the series in the past.

Deadline notes that, in addition to the reboot of Bewitched, there is also a live-action series with a pre-teen Tabitha, the couple’s daughter, currently in development at Sony Pictures Television Kids.
