The Stranger Things account has released new teaser. In a tweet, released by the official Stranger Things account, audiences are shown the destroyed iconic setting of the Scoops Ahoy kiosk at Starcourt Mall. As the wait for its final season carries on, fans of Stranger Things are ecstatic with the release of even the smallest little teaser.
The tweet shows a whole lot of rubble and destruction, which is what Hawkins was left in after the finale of season four. We see the well-known Scoops Ahoy sign, the “You Rule, You Suck” white board that the character Robin carried and used during season three when working in the mall with Steve. Tiny details are scattered around the rubble and fans are picking it apart to try and figure out what this teaser was all about. One fan got an answer, and the Stranger Things account simply said that “something sweet is coming”.
It is unknown what exactly the “sweet” thing is that the teaser is referring to, but fans are speculating that it is related to season five. While Stranger Things 5 is definitely in the works and will wrap up the series as stated by the Duffer Brothers within the season four announcement, the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes have interrupted the production of the final season and any official news regarding release dates or production status is very hard to come by. With this uncertainty, it is unlikely that this teaser will be a season or a trailer announcement as it is not known as to how far writers got before the strike began. Filming also has not begun yet, and even when the strikes finally end, it is unclear as to when exactly the filming can resume due to everything starting back up again at the same time.
While fans are still hopeful that this teaser is going to bring an answer to the many questions regarding when season five is going to debut, there are too many uncertain variables at play for the high possibility of a season five date announcement. But, there is a higher possibility of there being a Stranger Things adjacent event or pop-up to keep the excitement for the finale up. Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.
