Soap Opera ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Halts Production Following Positive COVID-19 Test

NBC’s long-running daytime drama Days of our Lives is halting production for two weeks after receiving news of a positive COVID-19 test from a member of the production team, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe individual who tested positive is now in isolation and filming of the show will resume on October 26. The drama series has been running since 1965 and follows the lives of 5 families living in the fictional town of Salem.

Having resumed production on September 1Days of our Lives was the last of the four broadcast daytime soaps to continue after the industry-wide shutdown due to the ongoing pandemic. In comparison to CBS’ The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as ABC’s General Hospital, Days of our Lives works months ahead of its air schedule and was able to air enough episodes until October.

Days of our Lives joins the list of TV series productions to be halted due to the pandemic, including the CW’s All American, ABC’s For Life, CBS’ Young Sheldonand NBC’s Chicago Med. The series will continue filming its 56th season once the cast and crew have been quarantined.
