Jason Momoa hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time Saturday, December 8th. He is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones as well as Aquaman in Justice League and the soon-to-be Aquaman spinoff coming to theaters December 20th.
Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, Ragin Bull) also made another appearance as Robert Mueller, this time haunting Eric Trump in the cold open.
Momoa reprised his role as Khal Drogo in a talk show parody sketch called “Khal Drogo’s Ghost Dojo”, in which deceased characters from the hit HBO drama make guest appearances to talk to Drogo and host Zerbo (Kenan Thompson). The guests included Hodor (Beck Bennett), High Sparrow (Pete Davidson), and King Joffrey (Kate McKinnon). Even though the character is not dead, Brienne of Tarth was played by Heidi Gardner. De Niro’s appearance as Robert Mueller brought in some laughs as well. The sketch began with Alex Moffat and Mikey Day reprising their impressions of Eric Trump (Moffat) and Donald Trump Jr. (Day) in the cold open.
Eric was scared to go to sleep after watching the news, so Donald Jr. tried to assure him by reading him a bedtime story. But when he opened the closet to show Eric there wasn’t a monster in there, Robert Mueller was inside, taunting him. When Donald Jr. left to deal with a call, Mueller appeared beside Eric.
“Hi, Eric, don’t be scared,” he said.
“People say you’re the worst thing to happen to my dad,” Eric said.
“Getting elected president is the worst thing that ever happened to your dad,” said Mueller, which was met with applause from the studio audience.
