Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam is set to star in the new CBS comedy Welcome to Georgia according to The Hollywood Reporter. New Girl’s Hannah Simone and The Royals’ Elizabeth Hurley are also set to co-star in the upcoming series.
The series follows Penelope, played by Hannah Simone (2013’s Oldboy), a single mom whose career is taking off at the same time as her husband. Penelope enlists the help of her young mother Georgia, played by Hurley (Bedazzled), to help raise her son, THR reported.
Killam plays Josh, Penelope’s husband and father to their toddler son. Josh is an airline pilot who loves his job. Josh is much more tolerant of Penelope’s mother than Penelope, and tends to cut her more slack according to THR.
The pilot was written by Corinne Kingsbury (CW’s In The Dark, CBS’ FAM) John Francis Daley (Fox’s Bones, Game Night), and Johnathan Goldstein (Marvel Studios’ Spiderman: Homecoming, Game Night). The series is executive produced by Aaron Kaplan (Showtime’s The Chi, ABC’s A Million Little Things), Dana Honor (CBS’ The Unicorn, ABC’s A Million Little Things) and Wendi Trilling (The Unicorn, FAM) along with pilot director Pamela Fryman (How I Met Your Mother, Frasier). First picked up a year ago the multi camera in house produced CBS Studios comedy was packaged with this season because of pandemic related delays, according to THR.
