With college football season starting and the NFL to follow, Sling TV will be offering mini-subscriptions. Viewers can pay by the day, weekend, or full week starting at $4.99, according to Deadline. The regular Sling TV subscription currently starts at $45.99 per month. With the new subscription, Sling TV is now offering viewers the ease of switching plans depending on the game schedule.  Sling TV is not all sports. This will include other shows such as the Oscars.

The price point for the different packages will be $4.99 for a single-day pass, which will allow viewers to access the shows or games for a 24-hour period. This deal will also include a weekend pass for $9.99 and a 7-day pass for $14.99, according to Deadline.

According to Deadline, Sling TV is owned by EchoStar, the cousin of Dish Network. The one downfall is that the company cannot offer any of the CBS stations. This means that anyone who is looking for a sporting event or a show would need to pay an extra premium to add Paramount+ services.

The SVP of Product and Operations at Sling TV, Seth Van Sickel, told Deadline that the programming partners were briefed about the company’s plans for the new short-term subscriptions. Van Sickel also said that the company would report their subscriber numbers accordingly per quarter; he declined to comment on the financials. At the end of the second quarter on June 30th, Dish and Sling had 7.1 million subscribers.

“This launch is about putting control back in the hands of the fans, without having to sign a long-term, binding contract,” Sickel detailed to Deadline. Along with the launch of the new day pass, there are several extras that subscribers can add on from Sling TV. Some of the extra packages include Sports Extra, Entertainment News, Hollywood Extra, Lifestyle Extra, and Kids Extra. These will be available for the one-day or week-long passes for $1 or $3, respectively.
